While you’ll feel tucked away in a picturesque lakeside setting, The Barn at Old Homeplace Vineyard is conveniently situated in Northern Davidson County, just outside of Winston-Salem, and only minutes from surrounding areas in the Triad. Easy to find, easy to love and the perfect spot for your wedding celebration!
Part of the Kennedy family since 1947, the surrounding 48-acre farm was previously used for tobacco – and even livestock – before owner David Stone realized the vision of a vineyard. In keeping with the ambiance of southern hospitality echoed throughout the vineyard, the barn offers 6,000-square feet of climate-controlled event space that can accommodate up to 200 wedding guests, plus a 1,500-square foot deck overlooking the vineyard itself, and a 1,200-square foot patio overlooking Thom-A-Lex Lake.
Speak to Old Homeplace Vineyard’s wedding event coordinator, Rayma Stover, and you’ll immediately feel her passion for ensuring every couple truly enjoys their wedding day, knowing the details and décor are in good hands. Having been a mother-of-the-bride herself, she knows the importance of offering planning services to brides who may be on a limited budget to hire professional wedding planners. Her goal is to take as much stress as possible off of brides, mothers and all involved, who are striving to make everything perfect for the bride and groom, so they, too, can enjoy the celebration!
Rayma explains the vineyard offers packages with a variety of options, with the “weekend” package the most popular. “We have several preferred vendors who meet our criteria of professionalism, quality and affordability, who we are proud to share with our couples,” she says, adding they do offer the option for clients to bring in their own vendors, as well. They also have in-house, fairly priced bar packages available, featuring fine wines right from the vineyard.
Besides being a spacious reception area and the ideal “Plan B” in case of rainy weather – and a comfortable option for any month of the year – the barn is equipped for both bands and DJs, with a stage, patio and deck perfect for setup. The privacy factor also sets the vineyard apart, as it is well off the road, and situated in a supremely serene setting.
For pre-ceremony preparation, the vineyard provides a beautiful climate-controlled bridal suite located inside the barn that includes a makeup bar, private restroom and dressing area, and newly added this past fall, a groom’s lodge equipped with heating/air, private restroom, TV and mini fridge – not to mention an awesome lake view for the guys! Wedding photographers love the natural setting surrounding the barn, which couldn’t be more perfect for capturing both family portraits and candid moments; and don’t be surprised to see a bridesmaid or a flower girl take a turn on the signature tire swing in one of the beautiful trees!
