CHECKLISTS! Who is Responsible for What?



Nothing screams “checklist” more than “wedding.” Whether you’re the bride, the groom or in the bridal party — you’ve got things to do! Don’t forget any of the important details. Use our wedding planning checklists to make sure everything is perfect for this special day!

FOR THE COUPLE:

  • Announce the news to family first, then friends!
  • Pick the date and time.
  • Organize the guest list.
  • Set the budget.
  • Determine the wedding style.
  • Hire a wedding planner.
  • Meet with and choose vendors.
  • Meet with the wedding officiant.
  • Sample wedding cake!
  • Shop for wedding bands.
  • Get your wedding license.
  • Write wedding vows.
  • Write “thank you” notes.
  • Plan honeymoon.

FOR THE BRIDE:

  • Select your bridal party, including your maid/matron of honor, bridesmaids, junior bridesmaid and flower girl.
  • Shop for your dress.
  • Choose bridesmaid dresses.
  • Host bridesmaids’ luncheon.
  • Buy gifts for bridesmaids and attendants.
  • Buy a gift for the groom.

FOR THE GROOM:

  • Select your bridal party, including your best man, groomsmen and ring bearer.
  • Choose tuxedos.
  • Buy gifts for groomsmen.
  • Buy a gift for the bride.

MAID/MATRON OF HONOR:

  • Coordinate bridesmaid activities with the bride, including dress shopping and fittings.
  • Organize the bridal shower and bachelorette party.
  • Assist couple with writing invitations and keeping gift records organized.
  • Attend all important bridal functions and events, as requested.
  • Help the bride and bridal party stay on schedule.
  • Help keep bride calm throughout various events, especially on the wedding day.
  • Hold the bridal bouquet during the ceremony.
  • Hold the groom’s ring during the ceremony.
  • Sign the marriage certificate.
  • Offer a toast during the reception.
  • Help transport gifts after the reception.
  • Help with errands as requested.

BEST MAN:

  • Coordinate fittings for tuxedos.
  • Pick up groom’s attire before the wedding.
  • Organize bachelor party.
  • Hold the bride’s ring during the ceremony.
  • Sign the marriage certificate.
  • Orchestrate toasts and offer a toast during the reception.
  • Help transport gifts after the reception.
  • Coordinate with couple and parents of the couple to ensure all vendors are paid and tipped accordingly at the end of the evening.
  • Help with errands, as requested.

BRIDESMAIDS:

  • Pay for dresses, alternations, transportation and accommodations, unless otherwise determined by the couple.
  • Assist with planning special events such as bridal shower and bachelorette party.
  • Attend all important bridal functions and events, as requested.
  • Arrive to all functions on time.
  • Help keep bride calm throughout various events, especially on the wedding day.
  • Help with errands as requested.

GROOMSMEN:

  • Pay for tuxedos, transportation and accommodations, unless otherwise determined by the couple.
  • Assist with planning special events such as bachelor party.
  • Arrive to all functions on time.
  • Assist with guest seating.
  • Help with errands as requested.

FLOWER GIRL/RING BEARER:

  • Be adorable.
